Online Desk: First unit of the country’s biggest Payra 1,320MW Thermal Power Plant at Kalapara upazila in Patuakhali has resumed its operation since early Sunday (June 25).
A ship carrying 41,327 metric tonnes of coal arrived at Payra Port on Thursday (June 22). It took two days to unload the coal. After unloading the coal, the power plant returned to its production.
Meanwhile, the second unit will re-start production on July 2, said the authorities. The country’s largest thermal power plant, Payra, completely shut down on June 5 due to coal shortage.
Four more coal-carrying ships will arrive at Payra in the first week of July, according to plant officials.
