Online Desk: A man was killed after being stuck and crushed by two busses in the capital’s Kallyanpur area on Friday morning. Deceased Moniruzzaman, 29, came to Dhaka from Rangpur district to attend in Local Government Engineering Directorate (LGED) recruitment test.
Quoting locals, Mirpur Model Police Station officer-in-charge Mohammad Mohosin said Moniruzzaman was going to his exam center on a rented bike. When they reached Kallyanpara area, two busses of Baisakhi Paribahan and Paristhan Paribahan crushed them from both sides, leaving Moniruzzaman and the bike driver critically injured.
They were taken to National Orthopedic Hospital and Rehabilitation Institution (Pungu Hospital) where the on-duty doctors declared Moniruzzaman dead.
Being informed, police rushed there and seized the two vehicles from the spot. “Soon after the incident, the driver of Baisakhi Paribahan, Touhidur Rahman Tushar, was arrested, but the driver of another bus, Monnaf Hossain, managed to escape from the scene,” he said.
Enamul Haque, cousin of the deceased, filed a case with the police station against them and police are trying to arrest another driver, he added.
