Online Desk: The power generation at Rampal thermal power plant has been shut again for technical error. On Sunday (July 16) at 1:43 PM, power generation of the first unit stopped due to a technical fault. Several sources of the power plant have confirmed the matter. However, responsible officials refused to speak on the matter.
Earlier, the generation of the first unit was closed at 8:46 pm on June 30 last due to the same reason. After fixing the error, production resumed on July 10 at 7 pm.
According to the power station, the Rampal power plant jointly funded by India and Bangladesh has a total power generation capacity of 1320 MW. The power plant has two units. Each unit is capable of generating 660 MW of electricity.
The first of the two units went into commercial production on December 17 last year. Since then, production of the first unit has been halted at various times due to technical faults and coal shortages.
