Online Desk: A four-member European Union delegation from Dhaka visited various Rohingya camps in Ukhiya of Cox’s Bazar district on Tuesday. Cox’s Bazar Armed Police Battalion (APBN-8) captain (Additional DIG) Amir Zafar confirmed the news.
The four-member delegation led by Councilor Maurizio Sian, Minister of the European Union Office in Dhaka, visited the Rohingya camp from 11:15 am to 3:00 pm. Among others were Enrico Larenzon, Team Leader of the European Union Delegation, Isabella Ferrari, Program Officer of the European Union Delegation Bangladesh and Sara Forseca Silva.
They visited the water supply point operated by UNICEF at I4 sub block of Westor Main B Block under Camp No-8 at around 11:15. At that time, Sajeda Begum, representative of Cox’s Bazar UNICEF office, gave a briefing on water supply. Then they visited waste disposal management run by UNICEF in sub block A-65 of F block and visited some newly constructed latrines of BERC NGO in sub block-47.
The members of the delegation paid a courtesy call on the CIC at the East CIC office of Camp No-8 at 12 pm and after the meeting visited the Multipurpose Child and Adolescent Center run by UNICEF in Block B 36 of the camp. At that time, Education Program Leader Mr Patrick gave the necessary briefing about the children’s education system and women’s handicraft activities of Cox’s Bazar Center. Later, the delegation visited the learning center run by CODEC at A-5 Block of Hakim Para 14 Camp and interacted with the on-duty teachers there.
