Online Desk: A court in Satkhira on Sunday denied bail to Rajshahi district unit BNP convenor Abu Sayeed Chand for making a “death threat” to Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina. Satkhira Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Md Ziarul Islam denied bail after Abu Sayeed Chand asked for it and ordered to send him to jail 11am.
According to the case documents, Abu Sayeed Chand publicly issued threats, stating, “Sheikh Hasina should be sent to the graveyard, and necessary measures will be taken to force her resignation”, at a BNP rally held at the Shibpur High School ground in Puthiya, Rajshahi, on May 19.
Following the incident, cases were filed in different parts of the country. Saiduzzaman Ziko, former vice president of the Satkhira district Swachhasebak League, filed a case against him in Satkhira. Chand appeared in the court regarding the case on Sunday. After the hearing on Sunday, a custody warrant was issued against him and he was sent to jail.
