Online Desk: The bus driver was among three people sued in a case filed yesterday over the Jhalakathi bus accident that left 17 passengers dead on Saturday. The three accused are Mohon, 40, driver of the bus, conductor Mizanur Rahman, 30, and helper Akas, 17.

Jhalakathi Sadar Police Station Sub-inspector Shusankar Sarkar filed the case last night. Confirming the development, Nasir Uddin Sarkar, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station, said they were trying to arrest the three accused.

At least 17 people were killed and 23 others injured when the Barishal-bound bus of Bashar Smriti Paribahan plunged into a roadside waterbody in the district’s Sadar upazila on Saturday morning. Jhalakathi district administration has formed a five-member committee to investigate the incident.
