Online Desk: The government has scrapped the primary scholarship examination for fifth graders. However, students will be provided scholarship through different evaluation methods. Ministry of Primary and Mass Education took the decision at a meeting on primary scholarship examination held at the Secretariat in Dhaka on Tuesday.
About the decision the ministry’s senior public relations officer Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin said though the scholarship examination system has scrapped but students will be provided the scholarship after evaluating them different methods. Process of the evaluation method is yet to be finalised, he added.
Last primary scholarship examination was held in 2008. After that the government introduced Primary Education Completion Examinations in 2009. Students who got the maximum numbers in the examinations were qualified for the scholarships. The government resumed the Primary Education Completion Examinations experimentally in 2022 after the postponement of it for 13 years.
