Online Desk: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members have arrested Ohidul Alam Bhuiyaan, who embezzling money of 44 hajj pilgrims. Ohidul, 50, owner of a hajj agency, was arrested from the city’s Sher-E-Bangla Nagar area on Sunday night during a joint drive by RAB-2 and 9.

Sajid hajj travels and tours agency owner Ohidul Alam, his son Sajidul Islam and his brother-in-law Md Shafiqul Islam embezzled money from 44 hajj pilgrims giving an assurance to send them to Saudi Arabia in 2023 for hajj. But the trio went into hiding embezzling taka 3 lakh, said RAB-2 senior ASP senior assistant director Shihab Karim.

The victims, later, filed more than five cases at different police station in the country. Getting secret information on Sunday night, the elite force team conducted a drive in the Sher-E-Bangla Nagar area and arrested Ohidul.

“Ohidul confessed to his guilt of embezzling the money. Legal action is under process against him,” the RAB official said.
