Online Desk: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s home constituency in charge representative and former senior secretary Md Shahid Ullah Khandaker said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had done nothing for his own in his life. ‘Bangabandhu has sacrificed his life for people. He had spent 23 years of his life in jail raising voice for people. Father of the Nation was born only for welfare of masses.’
PM’s home constituency representative Shahid Ullah made the remarks while addressing a discussion, doa mahfil and prize distribution function as chief guest at upazila parishad hall room at Kotalipara of Gopalganj district on Tuesday (August 15). The upazila administration organised the event to mark the 48th anniversary of martyrdom of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day.
The former senior secretary went on saying that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman always raised voice against unjust and injustice. He not only spoke for repressed people of Bangladesh but also for the oppressed people of the whole world. ‘He is Biswabandhu, he is Bangabandhu and he is our Father of the Nation.’
Khandaker Shahid Ullah urged the students present at the function to read the books of ‘Oshomapto Attojiboni of Bangabandhu’ and ‘Karagarer Rojnamcha’.
Presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ferdous Wahid the function was addressed, among others, by municipality mayor Motiar Rahman Hazra, upazila Awami League general secretary Ainal Hossain Sheikh, former municipality mayor Md Kamal Hossain Sheikh, upazila krishi officer Dolon Chondra Roy, heroic freedom fighter Abul Kalam Daria and student Shrea Vabuk.
Earlier, former senior secretary Shahid Ullah attended the events at different places of Kotalipara and Tungipara organised on the occasion of National Mourning Day.
