Next year’s SSC, HSC exams likely to begin in Feb, Apr: Dipu Moni

Online Desk: The next year’s Secondary School Certificate examinations are likely to be held in February while Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) in April, Education Minister Dipu Moni said today. “We have been trying to hold these exams on time,” Dipu Moni said while talking to reports after visiting an HSC exam centre at Tejgaon College. The HSC exams under eight general boards started today.

About this year’s HSC and equivalent exams, Dipu Moni said the results will be published within 60 days after the examinations are over. She said, “Students sat for the exams from today will receive their results within 60 days (after the exams end). In other boards where the students will take the exam later, there may be delayed in publication of their results.” “But, our target is to publish the results for all nine general boards, the Madrasah board, and technical boards all together within 60 days,” she added.

Students registered with the Chittagong, Madrasa, and Technical Education Boards, will begin their exams until August 27. As the exams for these boards were postponed by 10 days due to the monsoon flood. This year, the exams are being held for full marks and on a curtailed syllabus for all the subjects except Information and Communications Technology, which will be held for 75 marks instead of 100 marks.

A total of 13,59,342 students have registered for the HSC and equivalent exams. Of them, 6,88,887 are boys and 6,70,455 are girls. A total of 11,08,594 students will sit for the HSC exams; 98,031 for Dakhil; and 1,52,717 for vocational tests under the technical education board. The number of examinees has increased by 1,55,935 compared to last year.
