Online Desk: Awami League (AL) general secretary Obaidul Quader has said the guests from western nations are coming Bangladesh without any invitation. “What a danger it is that we fall in a danger in Bangladesh. It is not we who invite the US secretary of state and leaders of Europe. Where those guests come from? Guests from the US and Europe come here without any invitation. Inform it if you want to come here. We will host you,” said Quader while addressing at a discussion at Dhaka University’s TSC on Friday.
Bangladesh Chhatra Legaue’s DU unit arranged the discussion marking the National Mourning Day. The AL general secretary said, “Let us know what you (foreigners) want to know. If it is necessary then talk with our people.” He added, “You hold talks, reprimand, impose sanction and now announced visa policy. Why not you give this threat to BNP? Is there no visa policy for them? The main purpose of your visa policy is that visa restrictions will be imposed for those who will obstruct in election. BNP is doing this (obstructing the election). We are not doing this.”
Mentioning that Awami League wants a peaceful election, Quader said they want peace before and after election.
He said AL will observe that to whom sanctions and visa restrictions would be applied. Quader said, “Election will be held in 20 to 22 countries this year but representatives from Europe and the US are making visit to Bangladesh one after another. They are keeping their eyes only on Bangladesh diverting attention from all other countries.”
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir should go to Pakistan if he does not shun the demand of restoring the obsolete caretaker government, the AL general secretary said.
BNP has destroyed democracy, siphoned off money and started the politics of vote stealing by killing democracy, Quader said, adding that BNP is fascist pretending as a party of democracy. “They (BNP) have been recognised as terrorists at the international level and our fight is against them,” he added.
Chaired by Dhaka University BCL president Mazharul Kabir Shayon, the discussion was addressed, among others, by BCL president Saddam Hussain, its general secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Enan and DU BCL general secretary Tanbir Hasan Shaikat.
