Online Desk: Cox’s Bazar police today arrested the main accused in the murder of Awami League leader Saif Uddin, whose body was recovered from a hotel room yesterday.

Ashraful Islam, 18, was arrested around 1:30am today, Officer-in-Charge of Cox’s Bazar Model Police Station Md Abul Kalam Azad told our local correspondent.

The OC refused to give any further detail on when and from where he was arrested. More details will be announced later, the OC added.

Police yesterday recovered the body of the AL leader in a hotel in Cox’s Bazar town. Saif Uddin, 42, was relief and social welfare secretary of AL’s Cox’s Bazar municipality unit.

A resident of Ghonarpara, he was the former assistant general secretary of Cox’s Bazar district Chhatra League.
