Online Desk: A court in Dhaka on Wednesday dismissed the acquittal petitions of 96 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, including its ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman and secretary Golam Porwar, in a sabotage case.
Dismissing the petitions, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saiful Islam formed the charges. There is no legal bar to proceed the case.
The sabotage case was filed in 2012 with Motijheel Police Station. Twenty-seven were acquitted from the case charge as charges against them were not proved.
After investigation, the case investigation officer SI Awal Hossain submitted the chargesheet against 97 accused. Of them, accused Abdur Razzaq died.
