Online Desk: The World Bank will provide USD 100 million to help Bangladesh to control the ongoing dengue menace, said Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque.  He informed this at a press briefing after a meeting with the World Bank delegates at the secretariat in the capital on Wednesday.

The minister said dengue is increasing in the country and it should be controlled. The World Bank is providing the financial assistance to Ministry of Local Government to cope with the disease.

He said the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease crossed 500 and more than one lakh people were infected with the disease. It showed that Aedes mosquito breeding is not under control yet. Special drives will be conducted in metropolitan cities and municipalities to control the spread of dengue.
