Online Desk: Former Jubo League leader Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat’s bail in a corruption case has been extended till October 2.

Earlier on Monday (August 28) morning, Samrat’s lawyer Afroza Shahnaj Parvin Hira filed an application with the court of Dhaka Special Judges Courrt-6 Judge Manjurul Alam seeking time after Samrat appeared in the court in the case.

Today was fixed for charge frame hearing against Samrat. After hearing on the petition, the Judge granted the bail plea and fixed October 2 for holding the charge frame hearing.

On August 22 last year, Dhaka’s Special Judge Court-6’s judge Al Asad Md Asifuzzaman granted bail to Samrat after a hearing in the case filed for accumulating illegal wealth.

On November 12, 2019, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) deputy director Md Jahangir Alam filed a case against Samrat for accumulating the illegal wealth worth Tk 2,94,80,087 beyond his known sources of income.

Investigating the case, the ACC deputy director Md Jahangir Alam submitted a chargesheet against Samrat to the court on November 26, 2020. Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Samrat from Chouddagram in Cumilla in October 7, 2019 for his involvement in Casino business.
