Online Desk: Celebrity couple Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and Nusrat Imrose Tisha will be coming together on screen for the first time for his film “Something like an Autobiography”, one of the 12 love stories from anthology film series “Ministry of Love.” The on-screen duo also co-wrote the screenplay for the web-film. Farooki has directed two web-films for “Ministry of Love” which include “Last Defenders of Monogamy” and “Something Like an Autobiography”.
The director shared the wonderful news on his Facebook regarding “Autobiography”. The film has been selected to compete at the main competition section of the 28th Busan International Film Festival, along with having its world premiere at the festival in October. “Something Like an Autobiography” showcases the real-life pair blurring the lines between fact and fiction.
Apart from Farooki, Two Bangladeshi director’s films will also be competing in the category: Iqbal H Chowdhury’s “The Wrestler” and Biplob Sarkar’s “The Stranger.” “Autobiography” will be competing with some of Asia’s most important filmmakers this year in the Kim Jiseok competition category for established filmmakers from Asia.
Among them are Filipino master filmmaker Brillante Mendoza, Sri Lankan powerhouse Prasanna Vithanaga, and Indonesia’s Yosep Anggi Noen, among others.
Regarding “Autobiography,” the director stated, “I tried to tell various stories. Each of them has had a different impact on individuals. I attempted to keep track of how the acting should be and what tale was always important to tell. But acting is something I’ve never tried.” “Although I was initially hesitant about it, Tisha cleared my doubts by telling me something. She told me that I could do this story only once and that it would be really special. Please act in the web-film,” said Farooki.
When asked how it felt to be in front of the camera for the first time, Farooki said, “Acting is a vulnerable job especially when it also has hidden elements from your personal life. However, after the shooting started, it didn’t feel anything different. It felt like the whole scene came naturally to me,” continued the director. “The only difference was that I didn’t have to go behind the camera during my shot. My younger brother Kibria used to monitor my scenes at that time. And I used to playback my scenes after completing my shot,” he added.
Farooki’s wife, Nusrat Imrose Tisha, is an exceptional actor when asked whether he could learn the craft of acting. The director revealed, “I can’t say anything about acting. However, the acting became easier for me, as my co-star is a talented actress who helped me to accentuate my scenes. Your co-artiste can help raise the standard of your acting with their powerful performance.”
After motherhood, Nusrat Imrose Tisha is returning to work with this movie. She said, “I had no idea I would be able to start working so soon. Thanks to Farooqi for giving me the confidence to get back into shape and work again in films. I thank the Almighty that I could work on such an emotional story,” said the actress.
While discussing her experience working with Farooki, Tisha smiled and said he is a wonderful director and actor. “Earlier on, people thought he was a brilliant filmmaker. However, with ‘Something Like an Autobiography’ they will get to see how good of an actor he is as well,” added the actress. “I am afraid other directors might start offering him scripts to work in their movies after seeing the film. I wonder what I will do if he becomes an actor,” added Tisha jokingly.
