Online Desk: A five-member committee, headed by Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) department’s Director (Operations and maintenance) Lt Col Mohammad Tajul Islam Chowdhury, has been formed to investigate the massive fire that broke out at Mohammadpur Krishi Market in Dhaka early Thursday.
The committee was asked to submit a report within 15 working days, said Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector of FSCD headquarters (media cell).
Meanwhile, the fire broke out at the market around 3:43 am on Thursday and spread soon and seventeen firefighting units worked to fully douse the blaze. It was brought under control around 9:25 am.
Traders at the site said that there were 500 shops in the market.
WASA, Bangladesh Air Force, Army, Navy, BGB, and police assisted the firefighters in dousing the fire. No casualties were reported until Thursday night.
