Online Desk: A group of miscreants reportedly set fire to a microbus which was carrying BNP leaders and activists to participate in BNP’s central program ‘Youth’s Roadmarch’ from Natore on Sunday morning. The incident took place at around 10:30 am on the Natore-Bogra highway in Dalsarak area.

Shahidul Islam Bachchu, convenor of Natore District BNP alleged that leaders and activists of Chhatra Dal and Jubadal from Lalpur upazila were going to participate in ‘Youth’s Roadmarch’ in Bogra riding on a microbus. “On the way, some Awami League (AL) men stopped them, beat them up and set fire to their cars. The injured leaders and activists have taken shelter in a local mosque,” he said.

The owner of the microbus Rakibul Islam also claimed that a group of local AL men set fire to the microbus on the suspicion of going to join BNP’s road march. Natore Fire Service and Civil Defence Station master Ruhul Azam being informed, firefighters rushed to the spot at around 10:30am and extenguished the fire.

Natore Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Nashim Ahmed said after being informed of the incident, police went to the spot and with the help of fire service, they brought the situation under control. “An investigation is underway to find out the actual reason behind the incident” the OC added.
