Online Desk: Pointing to the applications seeking BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s release and advanced treatment abroad, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said, “They said they will not seek permission anymore. They will not seek permission from the illegal government. Why do they apply for release of Khaleda Zia to an illegal government? If this government is illegal, why do they apply to it?”

The Awami League General Secretary was speaking at a rally of farmers organised by Krishak League in front of south gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the capital on Saturday. Obaidul Quader said, “I want to ask BNP where is their 48 hours ultimatum? The ultimatum was fake, one-point is fake, BNP is fake, 32 parties are fake, movement is fake, grabbing power is fake, everything is fake.”

Presided over by Krishak League president Sameer Chanda and moderated by general secretary Umme Kulsum Smrity, the rally was also addressed by Awami League presidium member and deputy leader of parliament Matia Chowdhury, presidium member and Agriculture minister Abdur Razzaque, joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, organising secretary SM Kamal Hossain, Mirza Azam, Agriculturev and Cooperative secretary Faridunnahar Laily, and Relief and Social Welfare secretary Aminul Islam, among others.

It may be mentioned that BNP has submitted a prayer to the government seeking permission to send the party chairperson Khaleda Zia abroad for treatment. The Law Minister said the government would give its opinion on Sunday. However, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, now staying in London, told the Voice of America that “if Khaleda Zia wants to go abroad for treatment, she would have to go to jail first and then appear before the court to seek permission. She will have to appeal to the court. If the court gives order, then she can go. This is reality.”
