Online Desk: Eight more died from dengue fever across the country during the last 24 hours till Monday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease to 1,341 this year.

Among the new deaths, four were reported in Dhaka and four others outside the capital.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), some 1,708 patients were hospitalised with viral fever during this period.

Among the new patients, 374 were admitted to the hospital in the capital and 1,334 are outside it.

As many as 2,69,388 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country this year and 2,61,584 out of the hospitalized patients, however, recovered during the period.

The country recorded 281 dengue deaths in 2022, the highest on record after the 179 deaths recorded in 2019. Additionally, the DGHS recorded 62,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries last year.
