The CCCI President said at the programme that income tax is one of the main sectors of revenue of the government. However, many people are not aware of income tax payments.
He said that the tax net should be increased without depending on fixed areas of taxpayers.
He pointed out that to encourage the middle-income people of the country to pay tax returns, the tax rate needs to be brought to a tolerable level.
Tax commissioner Ikhtiaruddin said the government has made it mandatory to file income tax returns for receiving more than 40 services in the new Income Tax Act. Again, the Act has also made it mandatory for all government employees to submit returns.
Under the new law, taxpayers who fail to file returns by November 30 will be denied tax exemption and tax rebate benefits, he said.
In the workshop, topics related to income tax, accounting, and return submission are highlighted through the personal income tax return management software TaxDo. Through this, any taxpayer can get various information and services related to income tax and prepare returns submission even at home.
