Online Desk: For the first time, a Liberian ship ‘MV Mana’ arrived at Mongla port with 62,500 metric tons of coal. This is the largest shipment of coal in the 72 years of the port’s existence.
Mongla Port Authority claimed that no ship has anchored here before with such amount of coal.
The ship was anchored in the fairway of the port last Sunday (November 5), but the port authorities confirmed it on Saturday (November 11) night.
About 31500 metric tons of coal was discharged from the ship anchored in the fairway. The vessel then anchored at the port’s buoy number-2 with the remaining 29,000 metric tons of coal. This foreign ship will leave the port after unloading the coal completely within a day or two.
Mongla Port Authority deputy secretary Makruzzaman confirmed the news.
