Online Desk: Khadijatul Kubra, a student of Jagannath University, was released from Kashimpur Females’ Central Jail in Gazipur on Monday after more than fourteen months of her arrest.

According to UNB, she started her journey to Dhaka after getting released from the jail around 9:00 am.

Confirming the matter, Khadiza’s sister Sirajum Munira said, “We came here early in the morning. Khadiza walked out of the prison at 9:00 am. Her semester final exam is today. For this reason, we came here very early.”

On November 16 this year, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Thursday upheld a High Court order that granted bail to Khadijatul Kubra in two separate cases filed under the Digital Security Act, clearing the way for her release.

The HC on February 16 this year granted permanent bail to Khadijarul Kubra in the cases following her two appeal petitions.

In 2020, two cases were filed against Khadija for reportedly making derogatory remarks against the government on an online talk show hosted by herself.

Following the submission of the charge sheet in the cases, was arrested on August 27 in 2022 from her residence in Mirpur. Another accused in the case remains absconding for long.
