Online Desk: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said the main objective of the Awami League is to prevent sabotage and propaganda leading up to the 12th parliamentary election scheduled to be held on January 7, reports UNB.
He also warned that any attempt to question the integrity involving the election would not be successful.
Quader made the remarks while talking to reporters after a meeting of the sub-committees dealing with Awami League election at Dhaka district Awami League office at Tejgaon on Wednesday afternoon.
As the BNP and other like-minded opposition parties enforce blockades and hartals as part of their one-point movement, many other political parties including the Jatiya Party have announced that they are participating in the upcoming national election.
When asked about these recent developments, Quader, also the roads and bridges minister, said: “The election is nearing. And some flowers have already started to bloom.”
“Hundreds of flowers will bloom until the nomination papers are officially submitted to the Election Commission. So, there’s no reason to worry about it.”
The Awami League general secretary said the party’s election manifesto has already been finalised.
Meanwhile, referring to the recent development in the country’s diplomatic circles, Quader said, “There is no need to worry about foreign countries anymore. They are busy with the Israel-Hamas war and the Russia-Ukraine war.”
The meeting was presided over by Kazi Zafarullah, co-chairman of Awami League’s Election Management Committee.
