Online Desk: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) this morning seized 280 gold bars weighing more than 34 kilograms from a Bangladesh Biman flight at Sylhet Osmani International Airport and detained four passengers in this regard.
Confirming the report to BSS, CIID Deputy Director Munmun Akter Dina said, acting on information, their team boarded the Dhaka-bound flight from Dubai BG-248 at the airport at around 8.53 am and recovered the 280 gold bars and six egg-shaped liquid gold balls from the plane.
Dina, who is in-charge of CIID’s operation at Osmani International Airport, however declined to reveal the identities of the detainees.
The total weight of the seized gold is 34.51 kilograms and its estimated cost is around Taka 35 crore. Customs intelligence officials initially interrogated nine passengers including women and children and later showed four detained.
