Online Desk: Jatiya Party is taking part in the upcoming national election in a bid to protect its political existence, party Chairman GM Quader has said.

He said this after launching his election campaign in Rangpur-3 parliamentary constituency on Saturday.

‘Besides, if we see that the Election Commission is not keeping their promises to hold a free and fair election and Awami League is showing their muscle power then we will take further decisions from our party forum,” he said.

He also said that there must be competition in elections, otherwise there will be no good election.

“We demand a neutral role of administration and elections should be kept free from the use and influence of muscle power and money. Election rules must be followed. If they do not comply with this, we will take our decision,” Quader added.

He also said his party did not negotiate any seat-sharing deal with the Awami League.

“The party is participating in the election to ensure fair polls and not for any sort of seat allocation,’ he said.

Regarding misconceptions about JaPa’s election participation, he said: “We are not conducting the upcoming election under any party and there are no seat-sharing agreements with the Awami League. Though JaPa was previously part of Awami League but the party is no longer a member of any alliance.”

Earlier this morning, Quader, accompanied by leaders and activists of his party, visited Palli Nibash and paid respects at the grave of his elder brother, HM Ershad, also founder chairman of the party.
