Online Desk: Urging all to cast votes for Awami League (AL), Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said on Thursday that the world is now staring at Bangladesh while Sheikh Hasina is needed for peace and stability for the region.

“Cast vote for the boat for a bright future, peace and development, and there is no reason to be panicked over the January 7 election,” he said.

Momen made the remarks while addressing an election campaign at Sylhet’s historic Registry Field on Thursday evening.

Addressing the developments made during the AL tenure, he said Bangladesh will be built as a developed country by 2041 where the government will fulfill all the basic rights of the people.

Momen, who is contesting from Sylhet-1 constituency, said there is no alternative to the AL for the development of the country and the welfare of the people.

Bangladesh is now self-sufficient in food while the poverty rate has decreased, exports and GDP have increased, he said.

“We need to maintain these achievements. We know how to face challenges because we are a pragmatic government,” he said.

Chaired by Sylhet metropolitan AL Vice President Faizul Anowar Alawal, Momen’s wife Selina Momen, central AL’s executive member Azizur Samad Azad Don, organising secretary Misbah Uddin Siraj, city unit AL General Secretary Prof Jakir Hossain and Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Anowaruzzaman Chowdhury, among others spoke on the occasion.
