The Daily Morning Voice Online Desk: A group of people vandalised and torched a number of vehicles today after blocking Bhogra bypass road in Gazipur city for two hours, bringing an allegation that one of their relatives died in police custody this morning. According to eyewitnesses, police arrested some people including one Rabiul in the area during the wee hours of today.

During the arrest, Rabiul got seriously injured and died later on. When the news of his death spread, relatives blocked the road and torched vehicles around 11:00am, halting traffic movement in the area. However, Bason Police Station Officer-in-Charge Malek Khasru said they asked Rabiul’s family to bring him to the police station, following a complaint from locals.

On the way to the police station with his relatives, Rabiul got hit by a vehicle, our Gazipur correspondent reports quoting the OC. Afterwards, rumours of Rabiul’s death due to police torture in the custody spread, and his relatives along with locals then blocked the highway, said the OC. Traffic movement on the road became normal around 1:00pm, he added.
