Online Desk: Over 100 dowry-free marriages have been arranged at Bishwa Ijtema ground on the second day of the first phase of one of the largest global Muslim gatherings.

Ijtema Media Coordinator Habibullah Raihan confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune on Saturday.

The marriages were held after the Asr prayers just beside the main stage of the venue.

Meanwhile, three more devotees died at the Bishwa Ijtema venue in Tongi, Gazipur on Friday night, taking the death toll to 10.

The deceased were identified as Nousher Ali, 65, son of Shamser Ali of Sherpur district, Abdul Kader, 55, son of Belayet Hossain of Bhola district and Swadhin, 45, son of Hossain Ahmed of Netrakona district.

So far, 10 people including a policeman died till Saturday morning during the first phase of Ijtema.

The first phase of the 57th Bishwa Ijtema, one of the largest global Muslim gatherings, entered its second day on Saturday with continued spiritual activities, including the recitation of Allah’s divine names and sermons.

One of the attractions of Bishwa Ijtema this year is dowry-free marriage sermons. After Asr prayers, the dowry-free marriage sermons will be held beside the Ijtema stage.
