Cabinet gets 2 more technocrat ministers of state

Desk Report: Two more new technocrat ministers of state are going to be inducted in the cabinet of recently-formed Awami League government which has come to power of the fourth straight time.

The new state ministers are Ahmed Kaikaus, former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, and Md Shahid Ullah Khandaker, former Secretary for the Housing and Public Works Ministry.

The dou is likely to be inducted to the cabinet in the next week, sources said.

The former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Ahmed Kaikaus will take over charge as State Minister for Finance and former Public Works Secretary Shahid Ullah Khandaker will be State Minister for Housing and Public Works.

Earlier on February 8 this year, Bangladesh government cancelled the Ahmed Kaikaus’ contractual agreement with World Bank (WB) who was working WB as an Alternative Executive Director. 

Ahmed Kaikaus joined the BCS administration cadre on January 21, 1986. On September 1, 2014, he was promoted as acting secretary of the Ministry of Planning. 

Shahid Ullah Khandaker joined the BCS administration cadre on January 21, 1986. On September 1, 2014, he was promoted as acting secretary of Ministry of Planning. He was promoted as secretary on March 2, 2015 and helmed ministry of textiles and jute on February 18, 2016.

He retired on September 22, 2022 after 5 years of contractual tenure. Shahid Ullah was made representative of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in her constituency Golaganj-3 to monitor the development activities.
