Bangladesh-Egypt cultural evening held at Cairo Opera House

Online Desk: On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, a Bangladesh-Egypt cultural evening was held at the famous Cairo Opera House on Sunday.

According to a message received from Cairo, the Bangladesh Embassy in Cairo and Egyptian Ministry of Culture jointly organised the function at the ground hall of the Opera House.

The function was addressed by Egyptian Cultural Minister Dr Nevin Al Kilani and Bangladesh Ambassador to Egypt Samina Naz .

At the discussion meeting, Ambassador Samina Naz expressed her gratitude to the Supreme Council of Culture and the Department of Foreign Cultural Relations under the Egyptian Ministry of Culture for this joint arrangement.

The ambassador pointed out that the seeds of the freedom struggle which were planted through the language movement took its final shape through the establishment of independent Bangladesh by the glorious path of the Liberation War. February 21 is therefore a symbol of eternal motivation.

Highlighting the history of excellent bilateral relations between the two countries, she expressed gratitude to Egypt for recognising independent Bangladesh as the first Arab country, helping Bangladesh gain membership in various international organizations including OIC, United Nations.

She mentioned that tourism, business and people-to-people communication are accelerating due to the establishment of direct air links between the two countries.

She expressed hope that more Egyptian tourists and businessmen will be encouraged to visit Bangladesh.

Professor Hisham Azmi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Culture under the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, professors of various Egyptian universities, Egyptian guests, media personalities, Bangladeshi teachers working in various universities, Bangladeshi working in various international organizations, prominent Bangladeshi businessmen in Egypt, Bangladeshi students studying in various universities, members of the Bangladeshi community and embassy officials and employees were present.
