Online Desk: Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury today held a meeting with President Designate of COP29, Mukhtar Babayev, on the sidelines of the 6th United Nations Environment Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya.
The meeting facilitated discussions on pressing environmental issues and strategies to address climate change challenges.
Saber Hossain Chowdhury emphasised the urgency of collective action to mitigate the impacts of climate change and protect the planet’s biodiversity, according to a message received here.
COP29 President Designate Mukhtar Babayev expressed his appreciation over Bangladesh’s commitment to environmental conservation and its proactive role in international climate negotiations.
He highlighted the importance of cooperation among nations to achieve sustainable development goals and safeguard the environment for future generations.
Saber Hossain also held meetings with the ministers of Canada, Japan, Malaysia, Belgium and special representative of the President of Kazakhstan on international environmental cooperation.
They underscored the significance of collaboration and diplomacy in advancing global environmental agendas.
They reaffirmed their commitment to work closely together and with other stakeholders to address the challenges of climate change and promote environmental sustainability.
