Online Desk: The fire at Chattogram’s S Alam Refined Sugar Mills has not been extinguished completely after18 hours, though the fire was brought under control.
Seven units of Fire Service are still working to douse the fire fully.
Fire service personnel said that the fire was brought under control at 10pm on Monday night, but could not be extinguished yet.
Fire Service’s media cell warehouse inspector Md Anwarul Islam said, “The fire-fighters brought the fire under control at 10:30 pm. But the fire could not be completely doused as there are combustible materials inside the factory. Seven units are trying to douse the blaze fully.”
Hasmot Ali, executive engineer of S Alam Sugar Mills, said “The whole factory is safe and under process. The connection belt from godown to the factory’s main plant has been disconnected.
Arounf 3:50pm on Monday, the fire broke out at the S Alam Refined Sugar Mills in the port city.
Members of the air force and navy also joined the efforts to bring the fire under control.
