Online Desk: Garment workers of a spinning mills blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway on Tuesday morning demanding salaries under the new payment scale.

Around 6:30am, some workers of Zamzam Spinning Mills in Gazipur’s Sreepur took to the street and stage demonstration blocking the highway.

Then vehicular movement on both sides of the highway came to a standstill which created huge tailback.

Some protesters claimed that the salary under the new structure is lower than what they are being paid now.

A factory operator said, “We have contacted the factory authorities several times demanding salary in the new structure. But they did not respond which forced the workers to take to the streets.
