Online Desk: Drives will be conducted at Khulna kitchen markets to prevent unnecessary price hike, food adulteration and illegal hoarding of essential commodities.
Khulna deputy commissioner Khondokar Yasir Arefin made the remark while presiding over the monthly law enforcement meeting held at the DC’s conference room in the city.
The DC also urges businessmen to smooth supply of essential commodities requesting for no price hike during the holy month of Ramadan.
He also requested the authority concerned for undisrupted power supply during Iftar and Sehri times side by side smooth water supply of Khulna WASA.
He also stressed the need for building social awareness against the so-called ‘Kishor Gang’ and asked law enforcement agencies to take action against illegal drug traders.
Khulna Superintendent of Police Mohammad Sayedur Rahman instructed businessmen to keep adequate fire extinguisher systems in all shopping malls and markets to prevent any kind of fire incident.
Following the zero tolerance policy against drug trading, he said ‘BIT Policing’ activities are strengthening to prevent crimes from society.
Assistant Commissioner of KMP Md Abu Naser Al Ameen said police have started drives against drug traders, illegal footpath grabbers and so called ‘Kishor Gang.
He also said strict security measures will be taken during the holy Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr.
Government officials including Khulna civil surgeon Dr Sabizur Rahman, senior agriculture distribution officer G M Mohiuddin, assistant director of Consumers Rights Preservation Department Md Walid Bin Habib and assistant director of BRTA Engineer Tanveer Ahmed were present, among others.
