Online Desk: It has been reported that Lahiru Thirimanna, a former Sri Lankan cricketer, was involved in a road accident in Thrippane, Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka.

The incident occurred at around 07.45 am on March 14 when the car in which Thirimanne was travelling collided with a lorry coming from the opposite direction.

As a result of the accident, Thirimanne and three other individuals travelling in the car, as well as the driver of the lorry and another person, sustained injuries and were hospitalized. Thirimanne has been admitted to Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital with minor injuries, reports Crictoday.

After retiring from cricket in 2022, the 34-year-old has been out of touch with the game and is not fully up to date with recent events.

However, news of a major accident involving the cricketer has caused concern among their fans.

The batter had played an important role during a period of significant change for Sri Lankan cricket.

Lahiru made his debut in 2010 and played his last match in 2022 against India in March. The 34-year-old announced his retirement on 22 July 2023 and later migrated to Australia.
