Online Desk: An incident of stone pelting took place on Chattogram-bound ‘Bijay Express’ train which left Jamalpur on Wednesday night.

The incident happened in Bokainagar area when the train was moving towards Ishwarganj Rail Station from Gouripur at around 11:30 pm.

The train’s locomotive master Atiqul Islam, 42, was seriously injured in the incident. He is the resident of Birampur village under Trishal upazila in Mymensingh district.

Hanif Mia, on duty sub-inspector (SI) of Bijay Express train, confirmed the incident.

The SI Hanif Miah said miscreants threw stones as soon as the Bijay Express train reached Bokainagar area. Suddenly, a stone hit driver Atiqul Islam’s nose. Later, the train was stopped at Ishwarganj Station and the driver Atiqul Islam was taken to the upazila health complex and given first aid. Then he was sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital by an ambulance for better treatment.

He further said that the matter has been informed to the senior officials.

The train, later, has left for Chattogram after another driver came.
