The Daily Morning Voice Online Desk: Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said the party chief and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will detail her vision of Smart Bangladesh and seek people’s support from today’s rally in Rajshahi. Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, was talking to journalists after visiting the venue of the rally at Madrassa maidan, now named Haji Muhammad Mohsin Government High School ground.

“She (PM) will describe how she built digital Bangladesh. She has a new plan for building a smart Bangladesh within 2041. She will describe her plan from the rally and seek people’s vote for the upcoming elections,” he said. Speaking on the economy amid this global economic crisis Quader said “I won’t say we’re at a good position. But we’re better than others in South Asia, even better than many developed countries.” “Look at the IMF report. It reported Bangladesh to be the 35th largest economy in the world. BNP leaders say, the country will become Sri Lanka. They say, it will happen within a month. Today in Pakistan, 1 US$ equals to 262 rupees. Pakistan does not have the capacity to import for a month. But amid this situation, Bangladesh is turning around,” Quader said.

He added that Bangladesh has changed in the last 14 years, and Rajshahi and the Barind region has radically changed. The changes have become visible now. Rajshahi became a city of pride for being the world’s least polluted city.” He sought people’s cooperation to prevent the “militancy and rumour mongering” forces in the country. He hoped that the rally in Rajshahi will see the largest ever gathering of people. Senior party leaders including Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, information minister Hasan Mahmud, SM Kamal, Mohammad Shahriar Alam, Ayeen Uddin were present among others.
