Online Desk: A Cumilla court on Thursday rejected the bail plea of Jagannath University (JnU) teacher Din Islam in a case over the death of law department student Fairuz Abantika.
Cumilla District and Sessions Judge Nasrin Jahan passed the order on Thursday.
This is the second time the court rejected the bail of Din Islam, who was relieved from the post of assistant proctor by the university.
On March 20, Cumilla Senior Judicial Magistrate M Abu Bakar Siddique rejected his bail application.
On March 18, the court placed JnU student Raihan Siddique Amman and teacher Din Islam on a two and one-day remand, respectively, in the case filed over instigating Fairuz to die by suicide.
Both the accused have been suspended from the university.
On March 19, a Cumilla court sent Din Islam to jail after the completion of his one-day remand.
Fairuz, a student of the 2017-18 academic year JnU Law Department, was found hanging at her Cumilla residence on March 15.
In the Facebook post, Fairuz accused Amman Siddique and Din Islam for her suicide.
Earlier, Fairuz’s mother Tahmina Shabnam filed a case with Cumilla Kotwali Model Police Station against the duo.
