Online Desk:  Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud today called BNP a political giant like horror cinema, saying the party burns people to death as like it is seen in the horror movie that the monster burns people and eats their flesh.

“The way BNP has burnt people to death and attacked them, they can be called monster. These scenes only we see in the horror movies. So, the term ‘monster’ can be used for BNP,” said Hasan, also Awami League’s Joint General Secretary.

He said this replying to a journalist’s question on BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul’s statement that a monster is eating everything at the YNT Center of city’s Dewanji Pond lane.
The minister said, “Tarek Zia is enough to destroy BNP, no other else is needed. As long as Tarek Zia remains their leader, BNP has no chance”.

About BNP’s call to boycott Indian products, he said in fact, the party called for boycott of Indian goods as part of its plan to destabilize the market.

“But no one in the country responded to their call, not even their leaders and activists. We have been able to control the market nicely. The price of many products have also come down,” he added.

Dr Hasan also said the armed organization KNF has been accused of carrying out various terrorist activities including bank robbery in the Chattogram Hill Tracts.

He said it is known that KNF is also contacting with the nearby terrorist groups.

“Bangladesh law enforcers already freed the abducted bank manager conducting raid against the terrorists. The government is determined to eliminate them,” he added.

Responding to another question on freeing of abducted MV Abdullah sailors by Somali pirates, the foreign minister said an all-out effort is on, talks are ongoing with the hijackers and the sailors are fine.

“As negotiations have progressed so far, we hope it will be possible to make them free soon. Foreign ships are also ready around that ship. In addition to negotiations, there is also pressure on the hijackers,” he said.

“We hope the ship and sailors will be freed soon. But, it is not possible to tell the specific date,” Hasan added.

Turning to prices of essential products, he said some unscrupulous traders and hoarders tried to destabilize the market taking advantage of BNP’s call to boycott of Indian products.

“Even, centering Eid, dishonest syndicates are always active in Bangladesh. But, we are determined to crack down on the corrupt traders as well,” he said.

Mentioning that the media also has a big role in this regard, Dr Hasan urged the media outlets to promote the fact that the market is fairly stable during Ramadan and the prices of some products have come down.

“If the price of a product increases, it is publicized in the media. But if the price of a product decreases, it also needs to be publicized,” he added.
