Online Desk: Mohammed Nurul Islam, currently serving as the Member (Estate and Land) of Rajuk, is spearheading initiatives to enhance the reputation of the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkya (RAJUK).

Renowned for his integrity, Islam has effectively tackled corruption issues and received accolades for his contributions, including the construction of a graveyard for the freedom fighters in Bagerhat district.

Addressing concerns over Rajuk’s operational efficiency, Islam emphasised the need for streamlined processes to better serve the public. He highlighted the integration of Rajuk with the National Identification Database (NID) as a significant step towards expedited services and curbing illicit property activities in areas like Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara, and Uttara.

Nurul Islam revealed instances of fraudulent land acquisitions using fake NIDs and underscored the importance of leveraging technology to combat such practices.

With Rajuk’s enhanced capabilities, detecting fake NIDs has become more efficient, thwarting attempts at illegal land grabs.

Prior to his tenure at Rajuk, Islam held various positions in government agencies, demonstrating a commitment to public service and integrity. Notably, he led initiatives such as the construction of a graveyard for freedom fighters and played a pivotal role in advancing digital initiatives in Bagerhat Sadar Upazila. Islam’s proactive approach to addressing land fraud and improving service delivery reflects his dedication to upholding the integrity of Rajuk.

Despite the inherent risks, his efforts aim to safeguard the interests of genuine landowners and promote transparency in land transactions. In a conversation with the Special Correspondent of the Daily Morning Voice on Wednesday, he said that it is possible to provide services to the best aspirants quickly by checking the data due to the connection of Rajuk with NIDs. Apart from this, the evil intentions of those who are still illegally grabbing valuable properties of the dead areas like Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara and Uttara, through forgery, have been stopped forever.

This Rajuk officer also said that the land grabbing syndicate had been creating NID anonymously for a long time. Later, they used this fake NID to grab the property of areas of the capital and build high rise buildings there. It is possible to detect fake ownership with one click. In this case, no one can do it now. Mohammed Narul Islam, before joining RAJUK, served as Deputy Secretary in Social Welfare Ministry, Private Secretary to Administrator in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), Deputy Director of Environment Directorate and Bagerhat Sadar UNO. He then took charge as Director (Zone-1) at Rajuk.

During his tenure as UNO, he built a graveyard for the freedom fighters at Bagerhat. Two thousand students, teachers, parents, NGO workers and representatives of the civil society and public and private officials participated in the construction of this graveyard on the banks of the Bhairab river. The construction of the cemetery was inaugurated by the then Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muazzem Hossain.

Thousands of people gathered on the banks of river to see the inauguration ceremony. In recognition of this work, former Member of Parliament, Mir Shawkat Ali Badshah, gave an appreciation to Nurul Islam saying, “During your tenure in Bagerhat Sadar Upazila, your spontaneous participation in the implementation of various social and economic programmes of the current government has impressed the people of Bagerhat, Sadar Upazila, including me. In the present government, you are the pioneer among the government officials in building Digital Bangladesh. You have played a leading role in providing 24 computers in various educational institutions.

Besides, installation of CCTV in the classrooms by you has contributed to digitization of Bangladesh.” Narul Islam is directly monitoring by installing CCTV cameras in the sections under the Director (Estate and Land-1). He thinks that due to this, the officials concerned with the service expectants are forced to provide services quickly with good manners.

Mohammed Narul Islam also said the land fraud continued with fake NIDs created from Nilkhet.

Later, with this fake NID, they grabbed the property in the capital and built multi-storied buildings there. But initiative has been taken to protect the property of genuine land owners from illegal land grabbers using fake NIDs. It will be possible to detect fake NID with one click on Rajuk.

Nurul Islam said, many citizens of Bangladesh go abroad for jobs. Living abroad for a long time, many people get married and start a family. When such persons die, land fraudsters took the chance. At the same time, the complications that existed in land management for a long time will be resolved. He said this work is very risky. “Yet I have bravely undertaken such a duty to prevent the intrusion of brokers and to secure the arms of Rajuk,” he opined.
