Online Desk: The fire that broke out at a factory in Mongla Export Processing Zone in Bagerhat yesterday afternoon hasn’t been doused yet in over 21 hours. Multiple fire service units are working on dousing the blaze at VIP Luggage-1 factory of VIP Industries Bangladesh Private Limited in Mongla EPZ, said Bagerhat Fire Service and Civil Defense’s Deputy Assistant Director Md Golam Sarwar.

The fire service authorities told our correspondent that they were facing water shortage and have not been able to douse the blaze around 12:50pm. The fire service official said while the fire is still burning, but there is no danger of it spreading anywhere. Eleven firefighting units from Khulna, Bagerhat and Mongla rushed to the spot after the fire broke out in the factory at 3:30pm yesterday.

EPZ authorities have formed a four-member investigation committee to determine the origin of the fire. Meanwhile officer-in-charge of Mongla Police Station Md Monirul Islam said a general diary was filed yesterday claiming a loss of Tk 150 crore on behalf of the factory.
