Online Desk: Flight operations at Sylhet Osmani International Airport have resumed three hours into closure of the runway after the wheel of a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight got punctured just before taking off. Bangladesh Biman’s flight (BG-208) took off the runway at the airport at about 4:10pm on Friday (February 3).

Earlier, the tyre of the wheel of Dhaka-bound Boeign 737 aircraft of Biman Bangladesh Airlines (Flight No. BG-602) got punctured at about 1:15pm when it was taking off the runway of Sylhet  Osmani International Airport. Instantly, the flight was turned around and the passengers were dropped safely.
Afterward, landing and taking off the airport at and from Sylhet  Osmani International Airport remained suspended for about two and a half hours and the flight operation was resumed at 3:42pm.

Sylhet Osmani International Airport manager Hafiz Ahmed said they took necessary steps to resume the flight operations by changing the punctured tyre of the wheel. “The aircraft will take off for its destination once it receives green signal from the ground engineers. Other flights are now leaving the airport as per theie schedules. The flight operation on the runway became normal after taking off Biman’s BG-208 aircraft at 4:10pm. With this the services to passengers have also become normal,” he said.

There were 143 passengers on board the aircraft. Fortunately, no one sustained injuries in the incident, said  Hafiz Ahmed. He said the Boeing-737 of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying 143 passengers was scheduled to take off for Dhaka around 1.15pm.
