Online Desk: Indian cricket legend Yuvraj Singh, forever etched in T20 World Cup history for his remarkable feat of six sixes in an over, has been named an ambassador for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
With just 36 days until the tournament kicks off, the announcement adds another layer of excitement to the biggest T20 spectacle ever.
Yuvraj, a key member of India’s victorious 2007 T20 World Cup campaign, will participate in various promotional events in the United States leading up to and during the tournament. He will also be present for the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan clash in New York on June 9th.
Expressing his excitement, Yuvraj shared, “Some of my fondest cricketing memories have come from playing at the T20 World Cup, including hitting six sixes in an over, so it’s very exciting to be part of this edition.”
He further emphasized the significance of expanding cricket’s reach in the US market and the unique atmosphere of playing in the West Indies.
Claire Furlong, ICC General Manager – Marketing & Communications, expressed her delight at having Yuvraj on board.
“His name is synonymous with the T20 World Cup… He joins Chris Gayle and Usain Bolt as the first ambassadors to be announced, who will each add to the excitement of what will be the biggest T20 World Cup ever,” he said.
