Online Desk: Opposition BNP on Friday afternoon held a rally and brought out a procession at Nayapaltan in the capital demanding advanced treatment and unconditional release of the party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, withdrawal of ‘false’ cases filed against acting chairman Tarique Rahman, and release of the party’s Dhaka South unit’s senior joint convener Nabiullah Nabi.
The rally began at about 4:00pm through the recitation from the holy Quran. The rally was scheduled to begin at 3:00pm. Central leaders of the party joined the rally. Laders and workers from different thanas and wards in the Dhaka city thronged the rally with small processions carrying banners and festoons.
BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy attended the rally as the chief guest, while senior joint secretary general Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi as special guest.
The rally was presided over by Dhaka South unit of BNP convener Abdus Salam, while it was moderated by member secretary Rafiqul Alam Majnu.
Meanwhile, a large number of law enforcers have been deployed at Nayapaltan and adjoining areas certring the BNP’s rally.
