Online Desk: A fire broke out after a gas pipe ruptured beneath a road during its construction work in front of BSCIC on Pagla-Munshiganj road in Shashangaon area of Narayanganj on Sunday.
However, no casualties were reported in the incident.
Sources said more than 100 factories in Fatullah BSCIC Industrial area have been closed following a fire caused by a gas line rupture.
Abdul Hye, station officer of BSCIC fire station, said on information, six units of firefighters rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control.
The gas connection has been suspended throughout the area for pipe renovation work. The gas line will be restored after the work has been completed, he added.
He said the intensity of the gas pressure caused the flames to rise approximately 30 feet high and several tin shed shops along the road were damaged in the fire.
Shahid Alam, owner of a factory in the area, said his factory along with more than 100 factories, in Fatullah BSCIC Industrial area have been closed following the fire incident.
Fakhruddin, deputy director of Narayanganj Fire Service, said there were no casualties in the fire and they are investigating the cause of the fire.
