Online Desk : The name of a young woman has surfaced in the media in connection with the murder of Jhenidah-4 lawmaker Anwarul Azim Anar.
Investigators probing the case said Shilasti Rahman might have been used as “a honey trap”. After committing the murder in Kolkata, she returned to Dhaka along with main killer Amanullah Aman on May 15 last. The woman has already been detained by the Detective Branch (DB) of police. She is now being interrogated. A senior official of the DB police said Shilasti Rahman is a girlfriend of MP Anar murder mastermind Akteruzzaman Shahin. Along with Amanullah Aman and MP Anar, she entered the Kolkata flat on May 13 last. Shahin used the woman as a ‘trap’ to take MP Anar from Dhaka to Kolkata. After making all the plans, Shahin returned to Dhaka on May 15 leaving Shilasti in Kolkata flat. She returned to Bangladesh on May 15.”

An official of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP)’s detective branch said Shilasti was staying at a flat of the three-storeyed building during the murder of MP Anar. After the murder, she got down and assisted in concealing the dead body. On May 12 last, MP Anar went to Kolkata through Gede border of Darshana in Chuadanga district from Kaliganj in Jhenidah district for medical treatment. He first got into the house of his friend Gopal Biswas at Mondolpara Lane under Barahnagar Police Station in West Bengal. On the following morning, MP Anar came out of the house to visit a doctor. Since then he went missing mysteriously.
