The price of green chili has surged by at least Tk 60 per kg in the city markets, reaching Tk 220 per kg.

On Saturday, our correspondent visited the Khilgaon, Sheorapara, and Malibagh kitchen markets of the capital, speaking with buyers and sellers.

High-quality green chili, which was Tk 140 per kg last week, is now being sold at Tk 220 per kg. Retailers attribute the price hike to low production, resulting in decreased sales.

Green chili prices have risen from Tk 80 to Tk 100 to Tk 220, due to production shortfalls compared to demand.
