Online Desk :  Brahmanbaria District Detective Branch (DB) has arrested district Chhatra League vice-president Hasan Al Farabi Joy with the help of Dhaka and Netrakona police for allegedly killing district BCL worker Ashrafur Rahman Ijaz in broad-daylight. Arrested BCL leader Farabi Joy is the only son of college teachers’ couple Yaqub Ali and Rokeya Begum at Brahmanbaria Collegepara area. Following the arrest, he confessed to police shouldering the responsibility of killing Ashrafur Rahman Ijaz. Brahmanbaria Police Super Mohammad Sakhawat Hossain unveiled the details at a press conference at Brahmanbaria Police Super office at about 12:00 noon on Saturday (June 8). The police super said Joy was arrested from village Kutubpur in Atpara of Netrakona district on early Friday morning. According to his confession, police later recovered the arms used for killing from a bush at Vatpara area under Brahmanbaria Sadar.

Quoting the confession of Joy, the police super said Brahmanbaria Chhatra League’s former joint general secretary and former VP Jalal Hossain Khoka and Hasan Al Farabi Joy were very close to each other. Murdered Ashrafur Rahman Ijaz also accompany them. Khoka and Joy have absolute influence at Collegepara area. But, the murdered Ijaz used to oppose some of the decisions of Khoka and Joy. At one stage, their differences of opinion took a serious turn.

In order to give a befitting lesson to Ijaz and some of his followers, Khoka and Joy hatched a plan. According to the plan, Khoka collected a pistol from Brahmanbaria town and gave it to Joy on June 2 last. receiving the pistol, Joy tried to find out scopes of killing Ejaz. Meantime, Brahmanbaria Sadar Upazila election was held on June 5 last.  At about 6:15pm, some 20/25 people thronged at Brahmanbaria Sadar Upazila Parishad to bring out a victory procession after the election results. Khoka, Joy and Ijaz were also there. Amid altercation between Khoka and Ijaz with a triffle matter, Joy brought out the loaded pistol from his waist and fired at Ijaz. Then he fled from there.
