As part of its ongoing move to overhaul the party, the BNP has appointed three new members to its Chairperson’s Advisory Council. The party announced the decision in a press release, signed by its Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, on Monday. The newly appointed members of the advisory council are former Ambassador Sirajul Islam, BNP’s International Affairs Secretary Humayun Kabir, and Kurigram district unit party President Tasbirul Islam. Earlier on June 15, the party appointed ex-MP Jahiruddin Swapan, BNP Joint Secretaries General Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Mojibur Rahman Sarwar, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Lion Aslam Chowdhury, Ruhul Quddus Talukdar Dulu (BNP’s Rajshahi Division Organising Secretary), Dr. Sakhawat Hasan Jiban (Sylhet Division Organising Secretary), Baby Nazneen (Assistant International Affairs Secretary), and Engineer Khaled Hossain Chowdhury (Assistant ICT Affairs Secretary) to the post of members of the BNP Chairperson’s Advisory Council.
During its sixth council on March 19, 2016, the BNP formed a 502-member National Executive Committee and an 81-member Chairperson’s Advisory Council. On June 15 last, the BNP formed a 10-member Chairperson’s Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee and an 18-member Special Assistants to the Chairperson’s Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee. The party today expanded its body of Special Assistants to the Chairperson’s Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee by inducting 17 new members.
The newly appointed members to the Special Assistants to the Chairperson’s Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee include Ashraf Uddin (Former Ambassador to Canada), Enamul Haque Chowdhury, ANM Ohid Ahmed (Former Deputy Mayor, Tower Hamlets), Anwar Hossain Khokon (International Affairs Secretary), Rashedul Haque (International Affairs Secretary), Nahid Khan (Assistant International Affairs Secretary), Tofazzal Hossain Topu (Japan), Hafiz Khan Sohel (Washington), ASMG Shah Farid (Pennsylvania), Badrul Islam Shiplu (California), Dolly Nasir (Italy), Golam Faruk Shahin (New York), Shafik Dewan (Germany), Shamim Parvez (Germany), Haji Habib (France), Kabir Ahmed (Ireland), and Md. Nayemul Bashir (Austria). With the addition of 17 new members, the total number of the Special Assistants to the Chairperson’s Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee now stands at 35.
